The Collaboration Challenge: How Nonprofits and Businesses Succeed through Strategic Alliances in Volunteerism

Registration is closed for this event

In our new economy, collaboration between nonprofit organizations and corporations will grow in frequency and strategic importance.  Collaborative relationships will increasingly migrate from the traditionally philanthropic, characterized by benevolent donor and grateful recipient, toward deeper, strategic alliances.  These changes are already under way, and the changing alliance landscape is rich in variety, with businesses and nonprofits finding new ways to work together to achieve their goals and contribute to society.

Join our panel discussion to learn how nonprofit and corporate volunteer managers can work together to ensure that the goals for both organizations are achieved.  Panels members are Dara Ambriz, Cardinal Health; Marian MacVicar, Fidelity; Nathan New, Citi Cards and Kristin Rortvedt, PNM Resources.

Dara Ambriz manages Cardinal Health's local, award-winning volunteering and giving program.  She also serves as the President of the Corporate Volunteer Council of Central New Mexico (CVC-CNM) and Chairs the National Advisory Council to CVC.  She volunteers for several local nonprofit organizations.

Marina MacVicar is the state community relations lead for Fidelity Investments.  In late 2009, she launched a new national community relations and employee volunteering program for Fidelity's regional site at Mesa Del Sol.  She is the public relations chair for the NM Jump$start Coalition for Financial Literacy and a board member for Citizen Schools, and is also a member of the Corporate Volunteer Council, Young Professionals of Albuquerque and Junior League.

Nathan New is the Public Relations Specialist with Citi Cards, managing their employee volunteer programs.  In addition, he directs over 20 internal communications and external communications programs annually.  A graduate of the University of New Mexico, Anderson School of Management, Nathan is active with many local agencies.

Kristin Rortvedt serves as the Community Liaison for PNM Resources. She leads the company's volunteerism efforts through company-sponsored activities and develops community engagement opportunities for employees in a two-state service area.  She administers grants to nonprofits and educators through the nonprofit PNM Resources Foundation.  Currently, Kristin is president elect of the Corporate Volunteer Council and a  board member for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The MOVE Education Committee that brought you great Volunteer Management training in the past, is now partnering with the Center for Nonprofit Excellence to continue to offer these trainings.
