Introductory Meeting: Study Group on How Highly Effective Boards Work 8-2009

Registration is closed for this event

Highly Effective Boards: What do they look like? How do they work? How are they different? How do they get there?

In this innovative new study group, you will not only find out the answers to these questions, you will see what it is like to become this kind of group as you explore your own organization's most critical issues together.

Be ready to have a different group experience!

The study group will focus on two things:

1. How highly effective boards work.

Rather than simply talking about board effectiveness, the group will use methods that will lead it to become highly effective. This is a much deeper kind of learning.

2. Solutions to the most critical issues in each participant's organization.

The study group will learn how to process large amounts of fact-based information; deeply analyze that information; and create innovative, effective, actionable solutions, all in a fraction of the time that even board committees usually work.

The study group will be led by Mr. Race Cowgill, a member of the Center for Nonprofit Excellence Advisory Board and a Principal of Zenith Management Consulting. Zenith has studied and worked with over 1500 organizations, including some of the world's most highly effective groups, since 1962.

Beginning in September, the group will meet for six months, at intervals and times of day to be decided by the group. The Study Group is open to nonprofit Board members and Executive Directors. Participation will be limited to eight individuals. The cost will be $100 per participant for the six months.

Come to a lively, fast-paced introductory meeting to find out more about this group and what it will accomplish. This meeting will be part explanation, part question and answer, and part demonstration.
