What is the New Mexico Nonprofit Directory?
The New Mexico Nonprofit Directory is a centralized, accessible resource that provides information about the sector, designed to strengthen nonprofit partnerships and collaborations. Use the directory to:
- Identify nearby colleagues for new partnerships to better serve the needs of your community
- Connect with peers for knowledge sharing and collaborative programming
- Find organizations working on issues that match your passion
- Better understand the scope of the nonprofit sector in New Mexico
- Reach out to potential partners for strategic planning, program development, and community convenings
- Engage nonprofits in needs assessments and research to strengthen the capacity of the New Mexico nonprofit sector
The New Mexico Nonprofit Directory is a living database. Over time, new nonprofit profiles will be included. Please check back regularly.
We encourage you to contact us if you discover relevant changes about a nonprofit organization located within New Mexico; we also encourage nonprofit organization staff to inform us of changes. This will help us keep the information as current as possible.

How to Use the Directory
Nonprofit organizations, grantmakers, donors and volunteers can find information about nonprofits in New Mexico depending on their needs. Search the directory using a variety of search criteria.
There are six search fields. These search fields can be used individually or in a combination to search for New Mexico nonprofits. To do broader searches, do not select any option within a search field (ie: do not a highlight a specific line). Each field is set to default to all options to look for all entries in the field. To clear all fields selected, click on the "Reset Form" button.
- Keyword Search. Searchable by any word or combination of words. Ie: You can search by the words “after school" or "school.” A search for “after school” will result in a shorter list of nonprofits as it is a more specific search. The keyword search does not work with partial words. ie: It can search for the full word "collaboration" but cannot search for the partial word "collab." The keyword search is helpful for looking for specific language that is not included in the "NTEE Code" field. Ie: Examples of keyword searches might be words or combinations of words like: media, classroom, or neighborhood improvement.
- City Search. Includes cities and towns across the state.
- NTEE Code Search. The categories listed are based on the National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities Classification System (or NTEE Codes). Get More information as to what specifically falls within each code. This classification system broadly defines the focus of nonprofits. For more specific information on each nonprofit, the Mission and Programs of each nonprofit profile will need to be viewed.
- Counties Served Search. Includes each of the 33 counties in New Mexico and "Statewide," "National" and "International". You can hold down the CTRL key and click to select multiple options within a field.
- County of Location Search. Includes all counties where the nonprofit has offices/locations within New Mexico.
- Annual Budget. Includes 8 ranges for an organizational annual budget.
- Personnel. Includes 7 ranges for an organization's number of personnel.
Nonprofit Listing Information
This free, searchable database of 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in the state of New Mexico provides detailed information for nonprofit organizations seeking to partner, collaborate or learn from each other; volunteers, donors, and grantmakers.
The Directory is for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, organizations fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3) or tribal programs that provide direct services or programs. The New Mexico Nonprofit Directory does not include 501(c)(3) religious organizations that do not provide community services and/or programs, nor does it include government agencies providing community services.
The Directory is comprised of individual Nonprofit Profiles. Each Nonprofit Profile provides Contact Information and Program Information about an individual nonprofit organization. The following is a description of each field within each Nonprofit Profile.
Contact Information
Contact Information includes the following information:
- Web Address: Both the web address and a square picture web link of the nonprofit organization's website are provided when available. Click on the webpage image to connect to the nonprofit's website.
- Mailing Address: Address for parcel post delivery to nonprofit organization.
- County of Location: Counties where the nonprofit has offices/locations within New Mexico.
- Phone: General phone number for nonprofit organization.
- General Email: The general email address for the nonprofit organization.
Program Information
Personnel: Roughly the size of the nonprofit organization's staff.
- NTEE Code: The categories listed are based on the National Taxonomy of Exempt Entities Classification System (or NTEE Codes). For more information as to what specifically falls within each code, click here. This classification system broadly defines the focus for nonprofits. For more specific information, the Mission and Programs fields within each Nonprofit Profile will need to be viewed.
- Mission: A brief description of the nonprofit's purpose.
- Primary Programs: A lengthier description of what the nonprofit does (maximum of 250 words).
- Other Programs: Non primary programs provided by your organization.
- Populations Served: Unique populations for which nonprofits serve. There is an "All Populations" option and an "Other" option. If a nonprofit serves a population not on the list, more information will be provided under the specific nonprofit's Mission or Programs field.
- Counties Served: A list of counties that a nonprofit organization serves.
- Year Founded: The year the nonprofit organization was started.
- Annual Budget: Roughly where the nonprofit organization's budget falls on an annual basis.
- Personnel: Number of full time employees
- Executive Director: The Executive Director of the nonprofit organization
- Ways to Engage: Whether the nonprofit organization accepts inquiries about volunteering, board member, service learning and internship positions.
- 501(c)(3) Status: Whether the nonprofit organization is registered with the IRS, the State of New Mexico or is a fiscally sponsored nonprofit organization.
- Types of Services Offered: Whether the nonprofit organization engages in advocacy, direct services and/or community organizing
- EIN: The nonprofit organization's Employer Identification Number for the IRS
