Sustainability and Community & Global Citizenship Intern Position

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

This is a fulltime position for the 2014- 2015 school year. The intern will spend time equally in the Sustainability and Community & Global Citizenship programs. The internship is intended to support the development of a relatively new professional to the field of Experiential Education and should provide excellent experience to support future professional goals. Additional opportunities for local professional development will be available to support the intern's growth over the year.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Working with the environmental club students
Helping grow the school gardens
Helping teach one class in either environmental biology or earth systems science
Helping mentor the 10-12th grade students develop, carry out and present their "Commitment to Service" graduation requirement
Helping to manage the activities of the community service club.
Helping to manage online information about programs.
Periodic evening and weekend work may be required to support off site service visits.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Qualifications:
o Bachelor's degree with strong liberal arts background preferred;
o Background/interest in working within an independent school setting and exploring a career in environmental education/sustainability, service learning, and/or experiential education;
o Experience working with youth, grades 6-12 students;
o Be comfortable and interested in technology as a tool for teaching and organizing.
o Clean driving record (minimum age 21)
