Main Areas of Responsibility:
This one-year, full-time position - made possible through a generous grant from the ASPCA(R) - is responsible for implementing and expanding APNM's statewide Animal Shelter Assistance Program. The program's goals include increasing New Mexican animal shelters' capacity to humanely care for companion animals, increasing adoptions, improving access to affordable spay-neuter services, reducing euthanasia rates, and increasing public and private support of shelters.
Additional Areas of Responsibility:
Provide optimal assistance to New Mexico's shelters and communities, focusing on successful completion of ongoing short-term projects and further development and/or successful completion of ongoing long-term projects within designated regions. Facilitate meetings with shelter management, local government officials, and community members in focus locations to identify needs, opportunities, resources, etc. Build community support for shelters' missions, foster inter-agency collaborations, promote best practices.
