AmeriCorps VISTA position - SNAP Outreach

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

o Recruit, manage, & train community volunteers to conduct SNAP screening and application assistance.
o Increase access to nutritious food options by expanding outreach and programming to community farmers markets
o Help strengthen community gardening efforts and sustainable agriculture efforts.
o Create materials for volunteer opportunities.
o Coordinate activities to present information and education on food insecurity, poverty and food assistance need with key individuals and groups.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

This is an AmeriCorp VISTA program position.
2 positions available one in Albuquerque the other in Las Cruces.
Looking for a college graduate with a passion for feeding hungry people.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Position is from February, 2013 - February, 2014
oSegal Education Award ($5,550) or End-of-Service Stipend ($1,500)

oOne year non-competitive status for a US federal government position
oStipend: $946/month before taxes (Albuquerque Branch)
oStipend: $928/month before taxes (Las Cruces Branch)
